Position Summary:

Mandan Public Schools is currently seeking a School Counselor. The Mandan Public School Counseling Program promotes the development of productive and responsible citizens by ensuring the academic, career, and personal/social growth of all students. In partnership with parents and school personnel, the counseling program provides programs and services to enhance the educational process of all students.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide short-term individual counseling to students. Assist students with curriculum, career, and scholarship opportunities. Lead small group counseling sessions for students for social and emotional concerns as needed. Guide each student to choose courses consistent with His/Her/their interests, abilities, and career plans. Consult with parents and teachers regarding a student's social, emotional, academic, or behavioral concerns. Help students develop post-secondary educational, military or work force plans. Refer students and parents to community agencies and services for extra help and support. Consult with and serve as a resource for students, staff and parents regarding planning or promoting programs which enhance the academic, social, or emotional growth of students. Support additional needs of the school and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must hold appropriate certification in School Counseling from the ND Department of Public Instruction and a teaching license from the ND Education and Practice Board.
