Part-Time School Counselor Hampstead Academy - Hampstead, NH 1 Day Per Week (6 Hours) | $45 per Hour About Hampstead Academy Hampstead Academy is an independent K-8 school rooted in inquiry-based, experiential learning. Our small school community values strong relationships, individualized learning, and social-emotional development as essential components of student success. Position Overview Hampstead Academy is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Part-Time School Counselor to support the social-emotional well-being of students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. With a smaller student population and a highly relationship-based school environment, this position is designed to be primarily preventative rather than reactive , focusing on building strong relationships, fostering resilience, teaching social-emotional skills, and creating a positive school climate. The counselor will partner with faculty and families to proactively support students while providing responsive counseling when individual needs arise. Responsibilities Provide preventative and responsive counseling support for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. Develop and facilitate small-group counseling sessions addressing topics such as emotional regulation, friendship skills, executive functioning, self-esteem, and problem-solving. Teach age-appropriate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons to classrooms. Develop and implement schoolwide social-emotional learning initiatives that promote a positive, inclusive school culture. Build meaningful relationships with students through regular classroom visits and participation in the school community. Collaborate with teachers to identify and proactively support students' social-emotional needs. Consult with families regarding strategies to support student growth and well-being. Participate in student support meetings and collaborate on intervention plans as needed. Provide staff with resources and consultation related to child development, behavior, and social-emotional learning. Assist with conflict resolution and restorative practices when appropriate. Maintain confidential student records and documentation in accordance with ethical and legal standards. Support student wellness initiatives and assist with crisis response when necessary. Qualifications Master's Degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred. Appropriate New Hampshire licensure or eligibility preferred. Experience working with elementary and/or middle school-aged students. Experience developing and implementing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programming. Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills. A proactive, student-centered philosophy that emphasizes prevention, connection, and whole-child development.
