Job Description
Category Schools - Counselor Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role as a part-time Guidance Counselor supporting students with their college and career journeys. In this contract position, you will work approximately 30 hours each week, assisting teens and their families with essential planning and support. If you have a passion for education and thrive on helping students achieve success beyond high school, this opportunity is for you.
Qualifications and Experience:
Background as a school counselor, with recent experience in a middle or high school setting Expertise in college and career readiness programs Proficiency in credit monitoring and transcript evaluation Strong understanding of the FAFSA application process and ability to guide students and families through financial aid forms Demonstrated experience in post-secondary planning, such as connecting students with resources and helping formulate career or college goals Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills Dedication to maintaining confidentiality, empathy, and professionalismKey Responsibilities:
Meet with students individually and in groups to discuss academic goals, graduation requirements, and future plans Support students with credit checks, ensuring they remain on track for timely graduation Guide students and families through transcript reviews and answer questions regarding college admission requirements Lead or organize workshops covering topics like FAFSA completion, scholarship searches, and college applications Offer personalized recommendations and planning for post-secondary pathways Maintain up-to-date records and communicate regularly with teachers, families, and relevant school personnel Stay informed about local and national trends in college admissions and financial aid You'll play an essential part in empowering students to achieve their dreams and confidently pursue their next steps after graduation.
