Academic Counselor/Recruiter University at Buffalo - 4.2 Buffalo, NY Job Details $55,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications School experience Computer literacy Educational material preparation Bachelor's degree Working with students Computer skills Training Recruitment marketing material development Teaching Student counseling support Full Job Description The Upward Bound Program at the University at Buffalo seeks to hire an Academic Counselor/Recruiter. The Academic Counselor/Recruiter will be responsible for collaborating with program staff to manage direct services to 9th and 10th grade students.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Include :
Recruitment of potential student participants, securing appropriate documentation for client eligibility. Maintenance of accurate, confidential records for 9th & 10th-grade pre-college students. Conducting ongoing reviews of student caseload including student progress as it relates to needs assessment and learning plan, documentation of students who have left the program, program services received, scholarships received, financial aid received, etc. Responsible for record-keeping, attendance, and participant stipends Represents the Upward Bound Program at community-based functions, staff meetings, and other venues as appropriate. Physically accompany/chaperone students on various field trips, excursions and out-of-town; regional and or long-distance overnight college tours. Teach and facilitate at least one Upward Bound class per semester. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Counseling/Psychology/Sociology, or related discipline. One or more years of teaching or counseling experience Knowledgeable about the Buffalo City Schools' curriculum, graduation requirements, and evaluative procedures. Proficient computer skills, digital literacy skills, and exceptional organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience designing, planning, and presenting recruitment materials Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling/Education or related discipline. Experience working with students from a similar grade population (9-12) Experience working with students or school programs with similar goals. Knowledge of the college admissions/entry process. Prior experience working within a TRIO Program. Physical Demands This position may require remaining in a stationary position for frequent periods of time; use of office machinery such as computers, printers, and copy machines; occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds, frequently will move between offices/workspaces/buildings. Driving Requirements This position does not drive a university owned vehicle Salary Range $55,000 Additional Salary Information The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
