Counselor K-8 South Buffalo Charter School - 2.5 Buffalo, NY Job Details Full-time $43,430 - $81,367 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Research Master's degree School Counseling Certification Full Job Description K-8 Counselor The K-8 Counselor is responsible for assisting students in making reasonable decisions regarding educational, social, behavioral and personal concerns, helping their development of a positive self-image, and providing preventative and developmental counseling to enhance personal, social and academic growth.

Representative Duties and Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Develop an awareness of individual school site goals and needs Conduct conferences with students, teachers and parents Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with students Work with the guidance and Child Study Teams Process and/or initiate referrals to appropriate individuals or agencies Develop counseling programs and activities based on school site needs, i.e., peer conflict management Coordinate school Character Development Program Assess student academic and social needs and makes recommendations to the Administration as to how to meet those needs Maintain accurate individual student personnel records and other related information Attend staff, school-wide and regional professional meetings as is appropriate, and relate information obtained to the school staff Counsel and advise assigned students and/or their parents on problems relative to high school selection, scholarship, course selection, and educational career planning, as well as personal matters Participate in adopted programs of group testing and research, including counseling with students regarding the test results Perform related and other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES

Master's Degree Successful classroom teaching experience is desirable
