EOP Peer Mentors serve as peer advisors, coaches, and role models for first-year EOP students, many of whom are first-generation college students and/or from historically underrepresented or socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. Mentors support students in their transition to Tompkins Cortland Community College by establishing supportive relationships, discussing academic and personal concerns, providing guidance, and connecting mentees to appropriate campus resources. Peer Mentors are expected to model strong academic standards while fostering engagement, belonging, and student success.
Job Requirements:
Applicants must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.3 or higher and be enrolled in at least their second year at TC3. Peer Mentors will support approximately 3-5 first-year students of diverse cultural backgrounds and should be available for informal counseling, guidance, and support. Responsibilities average approximately 6 hours per week and include returning to campus early for required training and new student orientation.
