Job Description

Full-Time School Counselor (Grades 9-12) Sacred Heart Academy -
Hempstead, NY Salary:
Starting at $60,000, commensurate with experience
Mission and Vision:
Sacred Heart Academy (SHA) is a nationally recognized Catholic four-year college preparatory high school for young women, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, NY. With a focus on academic excellence, character, faith development, and service, SHA prepares young women to excel as leaders in a rapidly changing world. The school's innovative approach to learning and its commitment to fostering lifelong curiosity encourages young women to " Lead with Heart" Responsibilities Provide academic, social, emotional, and college counseling support to students in grades 9-12 Guide students in course selection, graduation requirements, and long-term academic planning Support students in identifying their individual strengths, goals, and leadership potential Collaborate with administrators, faculty, parents, and outside professionals to promote student well-being and success Monitor student academic progress and develop intervention plans when needed Conduct individual and group counseling sessions related to academic achievement, stress management, peer relationships, and personal growth Help foster a positive, inclusive, and faith-centered school culture rooted in Catholic values Encourage student involvement in leadership opportunities, service initiatives, and extracurricular activities Support students in navigating the unique social and emotional needs of adolescent girls Participate in parent meetings, faculty meetings, student support teams, and school events as needed Maintain accurate student records, transcripts, and counseling documentation in compliance with school policies Coordinate standardized testing, college readiness programming, and career exploration activities Uphold confidentiality and professional ethical standards in all counseling interactions Support and promote the mission of Sacred Heart Academy as a Catholic college preparatory school for young women Qualifications New York State School Counseling Certification (Initial or Permanent) required Master's Degree in School Counseling preferred High school counseling experience preferred Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills Experience with 504/IEP students a plus.
Pay:
From $65,000.00 per year
