Job Description

Overview The Yeshivah of Flatbush Joel Braverman High School, a premier Modern Orthodox yeshivah located in the heart of Brooklyn, is seeking a Guidance Counselor / Grade Team Member for the 2026-2027 school year. Our high school inspires students to grow into adults committed to Torah Values and empowered to impact the world. Responsibilities Serving as a core member of a three-person grade leadership team, the counselor works closely with the Grade Principal and Grade Dean to support the academic, social-emotional, and overall development of a grade cohort. This role blends individual counseling, academic support coordination (including familiarity with IEPs and evaluations), and teaching two sections of AP Psychology. Qualified candidates should have a Master's level degree in a mental health-related field (Psychology/School Psychology preferred). We are looking for a collaborative professional with excellent interpersonal skills, a strong understanding of adolescent development, and the ability to teach AP Psychology at a high level. Candidates should have a passion for student advocacy and the ability to build strong relationships with students, faculty, and families. Skills Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, educators, and community partners. Expertise in behavioral management techniques and conflict resolution strategies to foster positive school environments. Experience in individual and group counseling with a focus on mental health counseling, behavioral health, or social work. Ability to manage crisis situations with sensitivity and professionalism while adhering to child welfare standards.
Salary Range:
$70,000-$85,000 commensurate with experience
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
