Early College Counselor
HFM BOCES and
SUNY FMCC
is seeking a dedicated, full-time, tenure-track Early College Counselor for a 10-month plus 20 days position. This unique role will serve as a liaison between HFM BOCES, its component districts, SUNY FMCC, and other local colleges. Some local travel required.
Core Responsibilities
Serve as the primary link between Institutions of Higher Education, HFM BOCES programs, participating school districts, and families.
Coordinate instructor and curriculum approvals, enrollment, and registration processes while maintaining high academic rigor.
Coordinate course approvals in collaboration with division chairs; ensure syllabi, learning outcomes, assessments, and textbooks meet college standards.
Vet and onboard high school instructors teaching college courses; verify minimum qualifications consistent with college policy and applicable accreditation standards.
Maintain program compliance with college policies and applicable standards (e.g., instructor qualifications, learning outcomes, assessment integrity).
Partner with Registrar and Director of Advisement to streamline onboarding, FERPA compliance, and parent/guardian communications where applicable.
Maintain open communication with high school counseling colleagues, college professors, and outside agencies.
Data reporting as needed
Develop strategy to expand high-quality dual enrollment opportunities across Fulton, Montgomery, and nearby counties. Establish and maintain MOUs/agreements with partner districts. Manage the dual enrollment budget; monitor revenue/expense, instructor stipends, and partner billing; pursue grants and external funding.
Ensure alignment with relevant state and system guidance; collaborate with Finance on billing, fee structures, and cost recovery.
Collaborate with Marketing/Communications to promote programs, highlight student success, and publish clear information for families and counselors.
Host information sessions, counselor summits, and educator PD days; represent FMCC or
HFM BOCES
at district board meetings and regional events.
Serve on campus and community committees and work to foster a supportive climate.
Perform other incidental duties related to those that are listed above

Job Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
School counselor certification
TEACH Clearance
Work in college-level advisement preferred
Per Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on ability to obtain a fingerprint security clearance through the TEACH system prior to working.
