School Counselor Manhattan, NY 10016 From $80,000 a year - Full-time From $80,000 a year - Full-time About Foundry 8:1:3 Our Vision We empower every student to become an independent lifelong learner who leads a meaningful life with choice, opportunity, and purpose. Our Mission We build strong foundations, transform potential, and prepare learners for life beyond school through an individualized, evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis. Foundry 8:1:3 is a 12-month educational program designed for students who require highly individualized academic instruction, explicit social communication teaching, and systematic support to build independence and prepare for less restrictive environments. Grounded in the science and principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), our educational model integrates daily data collection, individualized instruction, fluency-based teaching, small-group learning, and multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure students make meaningful progress across academic, social, and functional domains. This program is intended for students who may appear capable on the surface, yet continue to experience challenges with academic fluency, foundational skill gaps, classroom participation, executive functioning, self-management, confidence, functional social communication, and peer engagement. These are often students whose needs are less outwardly visible and who may be unintentionally overlooked or left behind in traditional special education settings, despite widening academic and social gaps. Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and proactive School Counselor to support students' social-emotional development, behavioral regulation, and mental health needs. This role is ideal for a clinician who thrives in a highly collaborative, structured environment and is passionate about working with neurodiverse learners. Key Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling aligned with students' annual goals Support students in developing coping strategies, emotional regulation, and social skills Collaborate closely with teachers, BCBAs, related service providers, and leadership Participate in team meetings and annual meetings , progress monitoring, and documentation Conduct observations and contribute to intervention planning Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support when needed Partner with families to ensure consistency between school and home Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulations Qualifications Master's degree in: School Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field Valid NYS certification or license (one of the following preferred): School Counselor, LMSW / LCSW, LMHC Experience working with students with autism and/or special needs strongly preferred Familiarity with ABA principles , behavior intervention plans, and data-driven instruction is a plus Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills What We're Looking For A team player who values collaboration and consistency A clinician who is calm, flexible, and solution-oriented Someone who can balance clinical insight with practical classroom support A professional who builds strong relationships with students, staff, and families Why Join Foundry 8:1:3 Highly supportive, team-based environment Opportunity to work in a small, structured 8:1:3 setting Ongoing professional development and growth opportunities Meaningful impact on students' academic and social-emotional success To Apply Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience and interest in working in a specialized 8:1:3 program.
