Department of Counseling & Human Services is looking for Part time faculty to teach COU 790 Counseling Internship•School Counseling for the Fall semester 2026 (3 credits). This course is a clinical supervisory experience where students are required to intern in a k-12 school setting during which students assume the varied roles of a professional counselor in those settings. The internship experience provides for the acquisition and application of skills and core dispositions necessary for the translation of content knowledge into the art and science of effective practice in counseling. The course instructor encourages the development of analytical and evaluative skills in integrating content knowledge and clinical practice in the refinement and enhancement of professional and personal competence. It is during the internship that the professional counseling curriculum designed to provide a sound foundation of knowledge, skills, professional sensibilities, and experiences are clearly demonstrated and evaluated.
Qualifications:
A doctorate (or ABD ) in counselor education is required. Certification as a New York State School Counselor is preferred. The successful applicant will have experience as a school counselor and demonstrated effective teaching and supervisory practices that can be applied to a clinical internship course.
