5/11/2026 The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a School Counselor, Anticipated, Job Code 054, Time Schedule 401 (200 Days), Salary Range TBD, Collective Bargaining Unit – AEA. QUALIFICATIONS

– Required (all of the following must be met at time of application except where noted): Master's Degree in School Counseling; Valid State of Ohio licensure as a School Counselor, K-12

Desired:

Experiences with multi-cultural population; Experience in leadership positions within the profession and/or school setting; A minimum of (3) years of successful experience in educational setting

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Counselors shall be directly responsible to the principal(s) of his/her school(s); The counselor's role is to facilitate the academic, career, and social/emotional development of the students under his/her assignment; The counselor shall implement system-wide counselor programs; and, The counselor provides the following services to students, parents, administration and faculty: Interpretation of school achievement information; Coordination and use of community resources; Consultation and referral services.
