To support the elementary principal and dean of students, providing consultation and intervention to motivate students to learn social and emotional strategies and skills to access the general education classroom. To establish and foster healthy relationships with students, parents, and staff.

GoalsIncrease positive, functional behavior patterns at school and reduce disruptive behaviors, through social-emotional education and skills-building using The Zones of Regulation, Positive Actions, or similar curriculum. Limit student referrals for special education services by providing behavioral and social-emotional strategies and skills so the student can learn in the general education classroom.

Primary responsibilities: Referrals
  • Receive referrals from the Student Services Administrator and/or K-12 Principal
  • Evaluate referred students and create a counseling planGeneral
  • Review pertinent academic and behavioral school data
  • Complete classroom observations
  • Conduct small group or individual counseling sessions
  • Document counseling sessions and track student improvement
  • Contact parent as needed
  • Meet with deans, teachers, paraprofessionals, etc. with strategies for struggling students Curriculum
  • Classroom support with the implementation of the Zones of Regulation & Positive Action curriculum
  • Small group or individual instruction/intervention using Zones of Regulation curriculum
  • Small group or individual instruction/intervention using Positive Action curriculum Classroom ManagementCreate positive educational climate for studentsPositive behavior reward system may be implementedFollow all PPA policies to help ensure uniformity of the programProfessional DevelopmentAttend professional development opportunities throughout the school year or summer for your continuous improvementReflect and evaluate practices and procedures Additional ItemsBuild a relationship with students and parents so that they know you want only the best for the studentSubmit all required items to administration/office in a timely mannerReturn all communication to parents within 24 hours of receiving itBe supportive of the PPA team at all times, but especially when speaking to parents and studentsSecondary responsibilities: DutiesArrive at all scheduled duties on timeFollow after-school duty guidelines in the PPA handbookMeetingsBiweekly on the first day of the week at 7:30 amBiweekly on scheduled day with your administratorBiweekly TBT meetings as assignedPlease submit resume to
