Job Description
This position works with the Upward Bound Program to provide advising and academic services as a career, educational, academic, and personal counselor in both group and individual settings; participates in a variety of other student activities; serves as a liaison among program participants, College faculty/staff, target high schools, parents/legal guardians, and community agencies; supports Upward Bound, a federally funded grant program ,that serves a target group of 8th through 12th-grade students from financially and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds with the goal of increasing high school graduation and post-secondary enrollment. This position is a grant position and is contingent upon availability of grant funding. Once the funds from the grant that provide funding for this position are no longer available, this position may be eliminated and the incumbent terminated without cause upon written notice to the employee. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge:
Speaks and writes English and another language; Student advisement; and Computer software including Microsoft WORD, Excel, and PowerPoint.Skills:

The work is sedentary work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: This position requires the person to frequently move about the TRIO office and OCCC campus. This position requires the person to frequently communicate with students, administration, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position; must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations. This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position. This position requires the person to frequently operate a computer, other office machinery, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position. This position requires the person to judge, observe, and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings. Work is performed during office hours; extended work hours include nights, weekends, and overnight stays as required. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual Post-secondary academic advising experience. Master's degree in Counseling or related field (Education, School Counseling, Family and Child Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, etc.) Required Training Quarterly Compliance Training as assigned by institution Annual Campus Security Authority (CSA) Training Work Hours Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during academic year. Summer Schedule Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Extended work hours to include nights, weekends, and overnight stays as required.
