Tulsa, OK Job Details 17 hours ago Qualifications School experience Working with students Full Job Description Position Overview The Academic Counselor is responsible for the academic, social, and emotional guidance and development of students. This person works closely with the rest of the counseling department, the principal, and academic support staff in providing academic guidance, personal counseling, and career guidance to the general school population. This position requires a commitment to Catholic values and the school's mission, fostering a respectful, inclusive, and service-oriented community. As an employee of Bishop Kelley, you understand and agree that you will serve as a minister of the Catholic faith called to teach and act in faithful accordance with the precepts and teachings of the Catechism of the Catholic Church ("CCC") and the local ordinary, the Bishop of the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma. As an employee, by both word and deed, you will serve as an integral part of the religious formation of the students entrusted to the School by their parents as part of their sacred vocation (cf. CCC n. 2201-203; 22 29). You will serve as a minister of the Catholic faith and will be called to give a personal witness to the Gospel at all times. Essential Job Functions Demonstrate a strong commitment to Catholic values and actively promote the faith-based culture of Bishop Kelley High School. Guide all students in developing and maintaining a personalized four-year academic plan aligned with graduation and college admission requirements. Collaborate with technical schools and community colleges to support student applications and participation in special programs. Meet with each incoming freshman and their family to review academic planning, introduce school expectations, and build rapport. Assist students in selecting appropriate courses to fulfill graduation and post-secondary goals. Coordinate the pre-enrollment process, ensuring students choose courses that align with their academic plans and meet prerequisite requirements. Provide academic counseling to students experiencing difficulties, working closely with faculty and families to support student success. Address students' social and emotional needs and facilitate referrals to community resources when necessary. Help coordinate school-wide testing, including responsibility for ordering, administering, and reporting results for exams such as the PSAT, ACT, SAT, and AP. Support transfer students in their academic transition, particularly in course scheduling and orientation. Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of the school. Prolonged sitting with occasional standing and walking. May lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally (e.g., materials or supplies). Educational and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or related field (Master's preferred). Prior experience in academic counseling or school-based support roles.
