Position Title:
Nonpublic Guidance Counselor (198 Day Position) Act 93 Support Staff Comp Plan
Qualifications:
  • School Counselor Certification Required
  • Minimum of a 4 year degree and experience in counseling, social work, or education fields.
Reports To:
Director of Curriculum
Responsibilities:
  • Provide school counselor services to the nonpublic schools through Act 89.
  • Academic Counseling Maintain confidentiality of the student files and records housed in the Guidance Office. Monitor student academic progress, attendance, and graduation requirements Assist students with course selection and academic planning. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support student achievement. Provide accurate transcripts to students and alumni.
  • Career Counseling Provide college and career counseling to students and families. Assist students with post-secondary planning, including college, technical school, military, and workforce options. Coordinator college application, scholarship, and financial aid processes. Assist in organizing college fairs, career fairs, school visits, and post-secondary planning events.
  • Social-Emotional Support Provide short-term individual and group counseling services. Assist students in developing coping skills, decision-making skills, and problem-solving strategies. Conduct crisis intervention and respond to student emergencies as needed. Support students experiencing personal, family, behavioral, or social challenges.
  • Assessments and Testing Order and administer PSAT testing and interpret the scores. Schedule the ASVAB testing and interpret the results.
  • All other duties as discussed with and assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Method of Evaluation:
The Nonpublic Guidance Counselor shall be evaluated annually by the Director of Curriculum Services at the conclusion of each school year.
Terms of Employment:
The Nonpublic Guidance Counselor shall be employed for 198 days a year. The Board of Directors shall establish salary and benefits.
