Counselor -
Part Time Mechanicsburg, PA, United States Description:
This position provides professional individual and group counseling to students and may work with other educators and staff to provide educational and support opportunities for students. Primary Duties 1. Provide individual and group counseling to students and staff under the supervision of the Director of Counseling Services 2. Produce and maintain client case documentation in keeping with professional standards 3. Collaborate with other departments or staff in providing support for students 4. Attend meetings as requested and participate in individual and group supervision 5. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance Secondary Duties 1. Participate in Community of Educators, including committee work when assigned or elected 2. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required Master's degree in a counseling-related field, NCC Preferred Education Preferred Experience Required 2 years counseling experience Experience Preferred college counseling experience preferred Skills, Characteristics Required Ability to assess and diagnose mental health disorders Knowledgeable in applying a variety of counseling treatment modalities Understanding of developmental psychology as it pertains to college-age students Knowledge and understanding of the stages of student development and the importance of holistic education Ability to empathize with students and relate well to a diverse student body Cultural Intelligence/Competency - ability to effectively work and respond to needs of students from underrepresented backgrounds (i.e., students of color, international students, first - generation students, conditional admit students) and cultures. Ability to facilitate groups Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form Ability to maintain strict confidentiality Ability to work independently Special Working Conditions May occasionally need to work evenings for educational programs.
