Full time, 10-month, bargaining unit position
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in, School Counseling, Social Work and/or a related program In-depth understanding of counseling and social work best practices. Effective written and verbal communication skills 3-5 years of experience providing school counseling and/or related field preferred Prior experience working in a deaf education program preferred Experience with behavioral assessment/data analysis and positive behavior support plan development Ability to work collaboratively within a team Experience working with students with autism, emotional/behavioral disorders, and/or intellectual disabilities Possess knowledge/training in psychology of the Deaf and understanding of the needs of Deaf students and their families Ability to work effectively with students, staff, families and community agencies ASL - advanced proficiency required Strong interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute tiered counseling/behavioral/social emotional services and support as appropriate/needed for assigned caseload. Assist with developing appropriate IEP goals Provide one-on-one and group counseling for students, addressing academic, emotional, social, and behavioral challenges. Support students in coping with stress, anxiety, peer relationships, grief, and personal challenges. Serve as a liaison between students, families, and staff, ensuring open and effective communication. Provide student crisis intervention Consult with staff and families in order to develop increased insight into student's behavior and to facilitate growth and development through appropriate management Develop and implement behavior intervention plans in collaboration with the school team for students who require behavioral support. Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring they have access to appropriate services and resources. Work closely with teachers, administrators, and related service providers to ensure a cohesive approach to student support. Stay informed about best practices in school counseling, deaf education, and IEP development. Attend training sessions, workshops, and conferences relevant to the role. Collaborate with other professionals in the deaf education field to enhance skills and knowledge. Participate in department, team, staff, and IEP meetings Collaborate with school staff in providing support to families and students related to community, social and environmental issues that affect the child's educational program. Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Generally works in a classroom, school and office environment. Willingness to travel within the state, to travel overnight, and to work occasional evenings and weekends Sitting, standing, walking, frequent bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, Lifting and moving of lighter objects such as books, chairs, student desks Manual dexterity skills for using office equipment Ability to read and attend to computer screens for long periods of time
