Job Description

NativityMiguel School of Scranton (NMS) is a tuition-free Catholic middle school (grades 5-8) proudly serving students and families of greater economic need. Valuing both academic success and character development, we strive to empower our students to reach their full potential. As a School Counselor at NMS, you will support students' academic, personal, and social development through counseling, collaboration, and proactive interventions. As a member of our small, but dedicated team, you will share the mission of NMS. This is a full-time position with benefits and a retirement plan.
Qualifications:
Experience in a school setting Master's degree in counseling or a related field Pennsylvania School Counselor certification Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional ethics Practicing Catholic (preferable but not required) Spanish speaking (preferable but not required)
Responsibilities:
Provide a comprehensive counseling program to assist students in academic achievement, as well as personal and social development Serve as a consultant, in this regard, to school staff, parents, and school community members Deliver Tier 1 services, in the form of classroom instruction that proactively enhances social emotional skills, promotes positive school engagement, and supports students' goals and academic achievement Provide school-based, short-term counseling services, such as small group or individual sessions to support students' personal, social, and academic success (in alignment with their respective license or certification) Implement and monitor accommodations to help meet the identified needs of individual students. Facilitate discussions regarding appropriate guidance for out-of-school mental and/or behavioral health and well-being support services when requested or needed Develop and manage partnerships with outside organizations that provide programming, services, and resource-based initiatives. $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
