In this role, you will provide short-term intervention, manage academic assessments, and work closely with teachers, parents, and administration to cultivate a positive school culture. Key Responsibilities 1.
Social-Emotional Support & Intervention Short-Term Counseling:
Provide targeted assistance to individuals or small groups during transitions, heightened stress, or critical changes.
Crisis Recognition:
Identify student mental health needs and guide families toward external long-term resources when necessary.
Behavior & Bullying Management:
Address bullying situations from a social-emotional perspective; identify at-risk behaviors and support teachers with classroom management strategies.
Curriculum Delivery:
Teach the "Second Steps" social-emotional learning program as assigned. 2.
Educational Assessment & Consultation Academic Testing:
Partner with the Student Support Team to coordinate and administer school-wide academic testing (including Aimsweb and Stanford ).
Data Interpretation:
Analyze testing results and clearly communicate insights to teachers, administrators, and parents.
Special Needs Identification:
Recognize students requiring specialized academic accommodations and manage the appropriate recommendation and referral processes. 3.
Community Engagement & School Culture Active Presence:
Maintain high visibility throughout the school to ensure students and staff feel comfortable engaging and seeking support.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Act as a core consultant and bridge between parents, teachers, administrators, and supporting external agencies.
Positive Reinforcement:
Develop and implement a school-wide positive recognition system to celebrate and encourage constructive student behavior. What We Are Looking For (Preferred Skills) Strong background in utilizing and interpreting academic screening tools ( Aimsweb, Stanford , or similar). Experience delivering evidence-based social-emotional curricula (e.g., Second Steps ). Exceptional communication skills with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations with parents and faculty.
