GENERAL SUMMARY

Ability to deliver school counseling services in a school setting. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to help students navigate personal, academic, social and behavioral challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide appraisal and advisement in large-group, classroom, small-group, and individual settings. Provide short-term counseling in small group and individual settings. Make referrals to appropriate school and community resources. Consult with other staff to support student achievement and success. Collaborate with families, teachers, administrators, other school staff, and education stakeholders for student achievement and success. Identify gaps in achievement, attendance, discipline, opportunity, and resources. Develop and implement action plans aligned with annual student outcome goals and student data. Maintain student records, manage paperwork and adhere to confidentiality ethics regarding student information. Confers with parents whenever appropriate. Implement a system for referring students and families to appropriate services when they require outside resources. Other duties as assigned by the School Principal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education South Carolina School Counselor Certificate Experience Experience working with students. Skills/Efforts High moral standards and integrity, demonstrate a willingness to work with all students, ability to quickly learn procedures used to report information and maintain records, communication, organization and mathematical skills. Working Conditions Office environment with limited exposure to outside conditions. Office activities require movement/lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
