Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the coordination of efforts to support students at-risk of not graduating from high school; preparing for, scheduling, and conducting meetings; managing the campus after school academic support program; and mentoring and supporting students who are at-risk of not graduating from high school. Funding for this position is contingent upon the Title I, Part A Program and its coordination to the district and individual campus needs assessment. The position may be funded on a year-to-year basis based on the district and campus needs assessments and availability of supplemental funds. Qualifications (Education/Certification/Experience): Bachelor's degree and valid Texas teaching certificate; three years' experience as classroom teacher.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Organize, develop and manage procedures for implementing and monitoring services for at-risk students on assigned campus. 2. Facilitate and participate in at-risk student wrap-around support meetings, as appropriate. 3. Maintain a system of organizing, updating, and reviewing information pertaining to at-risk students. 4. Review and analyze student transcripts to identify and support students at-risk of not graduating. 5. Identify students in need of additional support academically based on previous and current course performance. 6. Meet with students and parents/guardians to encourage and ensure attendance to campus after school academic support program, as appropriate. 7. Develop and maintain action plans for students through meeting processes that support student high school and postsecondary success. 8. Organize, develop, and manage plans for implementation of campus after school academic support after school program, including assignment of content area staff. 9. Supervise Campus after school academic support program during program hours, which include irregular hours and hours outside of the common school day. 10. Collaborate with various mentor programs on campus to support at-risk students through assigning and supporting mentors. 11. Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community. 12. Attend and participate in professional learning activities related to supporting and mentoring at-risk students. 13. Follow the Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and state/federal regulations. 14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures Skill in analyzing data and using data tools Skill in working with various forms of equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, calculators, projectors, and printers Skill in working with computer tools, including but not limited to email, internet, word processing, and spreadsheets Skill in communicating clearly and effectively with others in print and in conversation Skill in working in collaborative team-based environments; managing and coordinating meetings Skill in being flexible and adaptable, willing to work with a variety of personalities in a variety of settings Skill in effectively organizing materials in a variety of settings; self-monitoring and time management Skill in initiating tasks in order to problem solve within a team environment
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands): Maintain emotional control under stress; work outside of traditional work hours; must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry at least 30 lbs.
