Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the role of Long Term Substitute School Counselor at Orange County High. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to students, staff, and families, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment. This position requires a strong understanding of student development, counseling techniques, and the ability to work collaboratively with educators and parents. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, social, emotional, and behavioral concerns. Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student needs and develop appropriate intervention strategies. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to create and implement student support plans. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress. Act as a liaison between students, parents, and community resources to promote student well-being. Participate in school meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities as required. Provide crisis intervention and support to students in emergency situations. Promote a positive school climate and culture through outreach and engagement activities. Requirements Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred. Valid state certification or licensure in school counseling preferred. Previous experience working with adolescents in an educational or counseling setting is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff. Knowledge of counseling techniques, educational resources, and community services. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Position will begin February, 2026 or earlier.
