Position Summary This is a part-time .4 FTE position, reporting to the Associate Director, Student Accessibility, this role is responsible for leading and administering duties pertaining to student behaviour as they relate to mental and/or physical health conditions. Provides information to students, faculty, staff and administration on non-culpable student behavioural issues and carries out relevant procedures identified in policy. Duties & Responsibilities Student case management Investigates and case manages non-academic, non-culpable, student conduct complaints, using processes defined by College policy and adhering to principles of procedural fairness and restorative justice. Utilizes informal resolution, mediation, or investigation methodologies as appropriate by taking appropriate steps to facilitate functional restoration and/or resolution of each matter by meeting with involved parties, conducting interviews, and co-construction of student success plans. Makes recommendations for student involuntarily withdrawal and sets criteria for readmission and where required, develops, implements and monitors student return plans. Provides case management for complex non-culpable student conduct issues in the classroom and on campus utilizing college supports and services as well as external community resources as needed. Student and stakeholder collaboration Collaborates with members of student and enrolment services, including those providing counseling, advising and disability services, to ensure a holistic approach to non-culpable student behaviour. Works collaboratively with the departmental leadership of Safety and Security to ensure the safety and security of all students. Advises the leader and other affected staff and management of serious student crisis situations including those of a threatening nature. Provides leadership, as required, to the Committee Concerned with Student Behaviour that supports and consults on student issues when there is a need to understand and support complex or confusing student behavior. Records and Documentation Assess risks and handles difficult situations where people have different opinions, are resistant, or uncooperative and utilizes strong interpersonal skills and tact to influence and make well-thought-out decisions. Maintains accurate and up-to-date student records. Maintain currency in matters related to case management and student support. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Criminology, Education, or Law. A minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in student conduct, case management, residence life, counselling, or related areas. Demonstrated experience with conflict resolution, investigations, and application of policy within a post-secondary or comparable environment. Training or certification in areas such as restorative justice, mediation, trauma-informed practice, or mental health first aid considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Skills and Abilities Solid understanding of administrative law, procedural fairness, natural justice, and relevant provincial legislation (e.g., FIPPA). Strong awareness of the experiences of people with a broad range of disabilities and the barriers they encounter. Exceptional interpersonal skills to manage emotionally charged interactions with employees and students. Excellent relational intelligence to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics, and the ability to think strategically to anticipate and address future challenges. Supplemental Information This is a part-time .4 FTE position with pay in lieu of benefits. Normal full-time annual starting salary placement is between $76,023 and $101,364 . Annual salary will be pro-rated to reflect .4 FTE. Compensation beyond the control/mid-point requires approval by the Public Sector Employer's Council Secretariat (PSEC).
