Trenholm State Community College Position Summary The Career Services Coordinator is responsible for all activities related to career development services to aid students, graduates, and community members in locating employment relevant to their education and/or training. The Career Services Coordinator will effectively communicate with local employers and community members to cultivate relationships. The Career Services Coordinator acts as a link between companies and individuals seeking employment opportunities. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing services to students that will directly impact their job readiness skills and understanding of the job search process. This position is responsible for all student follow-up activities, data collection, reports, monitoring of students' licensure passage rate, and organizing intervention strategies to assist students in preparation for licensure exams.
Salary Schedule:
C3 Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Develop and coordinate career advising services, job search assistance, career-based internships, and externship opportunities for students, graduates, community members, and various special population grants. 2. Develop new contacts with external organizations for the purpose of expanding employment opportunities for students and alumni. 3. Present workshops on resume writing, interviewing and job search techniques for students. 4. Attend and participate in a variety of workshops, conferences, and meetings, including the annual Job Placement Conference; conduct job search assistance workshops; advise students of appropriate interview techniques, dress and related employer expectations. 5. Assist with the planning and implementation of career development events on and off campus, such as, Career Week, Alabama Connection Graduate, Career Fairs, etc. 6. Research, compile, analyze and summarize data for monthly reports related to student placements; maintain records and information regarding student client calls, interviews and other related issues. 7. Monitor and report certification licensure passage rates of all students. 8. Develop and implement intervention to improve the licensure passage rates of current and former students. 9. Create partnerships and provide leadership in working with faculty, staff and community members in the development of job opportunities for students. 10. Design a career readiness program for students that address the unique needs of students at various developmental stages throughout their college experience. 11. Assist with work study orientation and interview and placement of work study students. 12. Assist with tracking and analyzing job placement activities. 13. Assist with maintaining resource materials related to company and business information and makes this accessible to students, graduates, and community clients. 14. Provide advising, educational guidance and assistance to students by aiding students early (student orientation) to evaluate programs of student and schedules. 15. Catalog and maintain counseling resource materials and supplies. 16. Maintain relationships with alumni. 17. Establish schedules for Career Information Fairs including virtual programming for students, graduates, and community relations. 18. Other duties as assigned including but not limited to committee service, institutional events, and division initiatives.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Business, Education, Counseling, or related field required.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master's degree. 2. At least two years of higher education experience in counseling or career services.

1. Knowledge of academic and career assessment strategies, including the use of microcomputers for assessment and instruction. 2. Qualities of leadership and skills of organization. 3. Ability to work well under pressure. 4. Effective oral and written communication skills. 5. Ability to work with a diverse student population. 6. Ability to perform multiple priorities. 7. Ability to function in an automated work environment. 8. Ability to use educational technology.
