Summary of Job Duties:
The Academic Advisor will provide direct assistance for the Bumpers College Waldrip Student Center. The advisor will be required to utilize Workday and EAB retention tools to advise, track students, schedule appointments, document student meetings, and process student communications in a timely and efficient manner. The advisor will work to ensure student completion, retention, and semester-by-semester registration for all students and will provide high quality student-focused interactions with a 400-student caseload. Specific counseling, management, and additional outreach will be required for probationary and at-risk students, as identified by the Waldrip Student Center. The Academic Advisor will collaborate with college partners to gain a clear understanding of curriculum and career opportunities related to each discipline. The advisor will participate in advising team meetings and all college/university training events, New Student Orientation, as well as have the opportunity to teachUNIV 10051
University Perspectives. The advisor will collaborate with other Student Services personnel to ensure an understanding and continuous delivery of recruitment, scholarships, student records, career development, and other services promoting student success. Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution At least two years' experience in a higher education setting advising, counseling, or academic coaching Experience with Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Human Environmental Science, Education or related field from an accredited institution Master's degree in counseling, education, or related area from an accredited institution Competence and experience with Workday, PowerPoint, Peoplesoft, Blackboard, Microsoft Teams, and EAB retention tools Teaching experience in a higher education setting Background and experience in agriculture, human environmental sciences, or related field Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of student development theory Excellent written and oral communication skills Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone and through electronic communications Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and think creatively with strong attention to detail Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, workspace, and work discreetly with confidential records and information Ability to assess own professional development and identify desired areas of growth Demonstrated passion for working with students, parents, faculty, staff, and college administratorsAdditional Information:
