GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides a comprehensive guidance and counseling program for students in preparing students for college and career endeavors at Walden Grove High School & Sahuarita High School. Consult with teachers, staff and parents to enhance their effectiveness in supporting the pursuits of all students in regard to college, career, personal and social development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Organize career planning activities including individualized guidance sessions; Academic and career goal setting; Resume creation; Job placement and guidance in completing job applications; Develop career exploration opportunities (job-shadowing, internships, industry tours, etc.); Assist with dual enrollment processes such as registrations and placement test preparation, accessing financial aid and post-secondary school resources; Engage students, counselors, faculty, parents, and all other stakeholders with information sessions related to post-secondary pathways including 4-year and 2-year college, trade schools, and apprenticeship opportunities; Provide presentations to groups of students and/or parents on various college and career topics; Maintain quality partnerships with secondary school personnel in collaboration with the CTE Director; Maintain quality partnerships with local business and industry leaders to promote career readiness among students in collaboration with the CTE Director; Advise students toward progress on various college and career readiness indicators including, completion of CTE course, FASFA completion, ASVAB and college placement testing, student job and military placement; Coordinate and chaperone field trips to post-secondary education options such as various 2 and 4 year colleges, technical schools and businesses; Support school counselors for graduation requirements and post-secondary entrance, education and career action plans (ECAP).

QUALIFICATIONS

A.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

A valid Arizona Guidance Counselor certificate; At least two years of youth devlopement and programming experience; Preferred two years of college and career-related work expeience; Strong computer skills; Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.
