Job Description:
The Culinary Life Skills Advocate is responsible for collaborating with the Culinary team to provide employment development, placement, and support services to all program participants In OSBI Culinary Kitchens and workshops and on job sites in response to DDD and One Step Beyond Inc. specifications. The Culinary Arts job Coach responsibilities include addressing the needs, interests, aptitudes, and ISP Goals and Objectives of all members participating in Culinary Programs, which includes daily/weekly/monthly curriculum delivery and all other means to advance program goals achievement, responsiveness to members, and continuous improvement. The Culinary Arts job Coach will be instrumental in teaching our participants appropriate employment skills and behavior and will closely support members as they progress and learn their jobs efficiently, safely and successfully.
Qualifications:
  • 1+ years experience in food preparation of food services industry.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disability or a similar population of vulnerable individuals.
  • Ability to gain knowledge and implement practices that show attention to compassionate and safe supervision of individuals with ID as well as supporting individualized developmental growth goals and objectives.
  • Good driving record, must pass MVR inquiry.
Responsibilities Provide transportation to and accompany participants to employment sites and all community-based activates to, observe performance, oversee work training, and provide instruction and assistance accordingly. Deliver program curriculum based on individual needs of program members and in accordance with ISP goals and objectives by implementing the daily schedule provided by the supervisor. Consider safety and proactive supervision when supporting members by assisting and accompanying them on campus or community activities. Report and document concise daily member's progress including completing daily logs, communication books, data sheets, etc. Document progress daily and report on program participant progress to Vocational Supervisor Consider the welfare, growth and development of program members as a top priority in all organizational and program decision making, planning, and development, and model and demonstrate appropriate behavior management techniques (Article 9) with program participants. Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with participants and parents/guardians to address concerns, maintain positive relationships, and serve as an advocate for members and a resource for parents/guardians. Assist Supervisor in maintaining and enhancing positive relationships/partnerships with community service, employer partners, and catering customers. Encourage other Job Coaches to work together to support the team in all direct service practices, including Member's safety measures, curriculum delivery support, positive behavior support, and progress report accuracy. Handle difficult situations with a positive attitude by actively seeking problem resolution, creative solutions, and program and organizational enhancements to ensure individual and team performance as well as program effectiveness. Actively participate in staff and administrative meetings and in-service training/workshops and program special events and seek opportunities to share knowledge, experience, and best practices with colleagues to enhance organizational and program effectiveness. Motivate Culinary participants to achieve effective collaborative interaction and mutual respect and encourage self-determination. Any other tasks assigned by leadership.
