Full-time Job Description:
The Employment Specialist is a vital role dedicated to supporting students, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and justice-involved youth in achieving success in competitive employment within their communities. This position goes beyond job placement—it involves empowering individuals through job training, coaching, customized accommodations, and ongoing support to foster independence, accuracy, and efficiency in the workplace. As an Employment Specialist, you will develop strong, supportive relationships with both the individuals you serve and their employers. Your ability to communicate effectively, advocate for inclusive practices, and maintain consistent engagement is key to sustaining long-term employment and meaningful workplace integration—especially for those facing additional barriers, such as a history of involvement with the justice system.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized job coaching and employment support Assist with onboarding, workplace integration, and skill development Design and implement accommodations for varied learning and ability needs Advocate for justice-involved youth and individuals with disabilities in employment settings Build and maintain productive relationships with employers Track progress, complete documentation, and support long-term job retention
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred) Special Education degree or relevant experience is a plus Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or justice-involved youth is highly desirable Valid Driver's License Mandatory background screening and drug testing Ability and willingness to travel statewide with a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided) Strong verbal and written communication skills Access to a home computer or tablet, smartphone, and reliable internet
