Our story began on January 6, 1964 in Lafayette, California, with a small group of young adults, their parents and the founding Director, Helen Young. At that time we were called the "Enterprise." The group included six individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities who made hand-crafted items for sale and the program was staffed mostly by volunteer parents. At the time there were few, if any, programs and services for adults with developmental disabilities. Decades later, we are proud of the impact we've made on thousands of lives across Northern California, providing services in the Sacramento and Bay Area communities. About this
Position:
As an Employment Support Professional (Job Coach), you provide support to adults with developmental disabilities at various employment sites throughout Sacramento County. Employment Support Professionals work closely with participants on achieving their employment goals as outlined in their ISP. The ideal candidate is comfortable with public speaking, job research, and community connections. This job is a great way to gain experience in the non-profit sector, social work, social services, or education and tutoring. We are seeking one ON CALL Employment Support Professional to work 1:1 as a job coach. This is a very limited role of 2-3 hours per week. Ideal candidate must speak Punjabi and must be willing to do the following: Assist someone with an intellectual disability find and maintain work. This can include working alongside the person to: Research what type of job they are interested in-acquiring skills necessary for their job of choice through training and practice-applying to jobs Providing on the job training and tools to support success-assisting with communication with supervisors and peers through training, role playing, and direct support Who are we looking for? High school diploma or equivalent Must speak Punjabi Experience working in human services, non-profit, social work is a plus Committed to the philosophy of individualized services, independence, and community inclusion Excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills Self-motivated and able to work effectively both as a team and independently You must have a reliable vehicle, auto insurance, and be willing to
DRIVE OWN CAR
(mileage reimbursement offered) Knowledgeable of computers and software use, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and G Suite Workplace. LiveScan criminal record clearance (or exemption) prior to start. Health Screening and TB Test clearance. Prior to Start. Physical stamina and ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively. Be a positive role model not only to the participants but to other team members as well. Have a collaborative work style using teamwork skills, professionalism, including tact, and good judgement. Possess good organizational and record-keeping skills. Be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines, work independently and have some flexibility to adapt to changes. Open to work in the evenings and weekends for participant support, meetings, and community events - if needed.
Great if you have:
Knowledgeable of Lanterman Act regulations, Regional Center guidelines, and State of California Licensing regulations. Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED by a qualified instructor.
