Provides information to students, parents, teachers, and administrators about CTE programs available to eligible students. Develops and monitors program enrollment data and slot reports. Promotes programs with students, staff, counselors and parents to ensure the placement of students within Pickens Technical College CTE programs are perfectly suited to the students ICAP, and career goals when the students are applying and enrolling in concurrent enrollment programs. Provides assistance to students to ensure they make an educated decision about the CTE program that will best meet their career needs, goals and objectives. Responsibilities Collaborate with Aurora Public School high school's and contracting district high school's faculty, administrators, and campus counseling departments to identify, define, and meet student career planning and CTE program placement needs, goals, and objectives Provide individual and group career counseling and career direction services to students applying or enrolled at Pickens Technical College Develop strategies for recruiting and retaining diverse and non-traditional students. Effectively represent Pickens Technical College Career Services Department to various on- and off-campus groups. Communicate registration opportunities to staff, current students and potential students. Establish and implement the Pickens Technical College Career Services strategic plan, including short and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures Assist students in selecting Career and Technical Education programs that are appropriate to their skill levels and career and academic goals to ensure they are in alignment with industry expectation and professional standards. Providing comprehensive Career Advising and information resources that enable students to take active responsibility for their career training; equipping students for making career plans by facilitating awareness of their work related strengths, interests, and values and understanding the world of work Coordinate a variety of events and tours to build resources and expand program opportunities for secondary and post-secondary students Act as liaison with in and out of district counselors, administrators, and district leadership to support a smooth transition from student's home school to Pickens Technical College Participate in meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of conveying and or gathering information required to perform functions and remaining knowledgeable of all Pickens Technical College CTE programs and pathways. Provide manuals, electronic reports and materials to staff, counselors and students. Ensure compliance with program requirements Perform other duties as assigned Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly preferred Strong knowledge of employment and labor laws applicable to diverse populations Background in social work, workforce development, or related fields such as teaching or addiction counseling Demonstrated ability in interviewing, mentoring, recruiting, and delivering training or development programs Experience working with individuals facing barriers to employment or requiring specialized support is a plus Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others Ability to build trusting relationships with clients from varied backgrounds while maintaining professionalism
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Bachelor's degree in education, Counseling, Communication or related field required
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three years current education experience in, or related to, career planning and employment services, including direct career counseling to students (or similar constituents). Experience in career development strategies for diverse populations.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EQUIPMENT & OTHER
Demonstrated success in cultivating collaborative relationships with students, high school counselors, faculty, staff, and professional colleagues. Solid working knowledge of Google G Suite tools.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS
CTE Specialist required within 90 days of hire
SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY
: No supervisory skills required
