Job Description

  • About this job: Provides program/industry specific career exploration support, including prior learning assessment support; career and program-specific advising; resume, cover letter, and application development support; and job placement support in-person, via email, and by phone.
Holds office hours at both the main campus and at satellite campuses as appropriate. Works within one of the college's academic departments but collaborates with all departments to facilitate a seamless service delivery experience with the goal of student retention and completion by supporting career exploration events for prospective students and engaging program alumni as mentors, for example.

What You'll Do:
  • Critiques and edits student and graduate resumes, cover letters, and other employment documentation and advises them on workplace etiquette, dress, interviewing and other related issues
  • Works with college faculty and administration to evaluate and approve student prior learning assessments and identify additional opportunities to grant credit for prior learning and experience
  • Activates and maintains relationships with all prospective apprentices including maintaining communication with interested parties and relaying information regarding apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Works with appropriate college faculty and staff to develop and carry out career readiness curriculum appropriate for the related industries and careers in which students will engage in apprenticeships
  • Coordinates with engagement and navigation staff to hold career exploration events and inform prospective students of career pathways through the incumbent's respective college
  • Keeps abreast of current employment trends, works with the Partnerships functional area to establish and maintain essential business community relationships to ensure the timely placement of graduates' related field of study
  • Participates in academic department meetings with deans, associate deans, and instructors.
Collecting and sharing of apprenticeship data with state and federal agencies.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's or relevant work experience Two (2) years of experience and/or training that includes vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, vocational referrals, employment services, or career development/transition OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Knowledge of Google Workspace and AI tools including Google Gemini. Knowledge of using workforce databases to research and obtain industry and employment information. Ability to identify student challenges and needs (often not vocalized), effectively communicate with students, and provide remediation or in-college assistance. Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new technology systems, especially using AI. Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us. Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
