Job Description

Organizational Summary AIDS Delaware's mission is to eliminate the spread and stigma of HIV, improve the lives of those living with HIV, and promote community health through comprehensive and culturally-responsive services, education programs, and advocacy. AIDS Delaware is the state's oldest and largest HIV Service Organization (HSO) working for the health of individuals and families.
Our services include:
free, confidential HIV testing; medical case management for individuals with HIV; client support including food pantry, 340B pharmacy services, and access to transportation; mental health counseling; and support in accessing preventative HIV measures.
Position Summary:
This position will be the primary on-site and virtual staff person dedicated to helping individuals with non-reactive tests understand their options when it comes preventing HIV. The HIV Prevention Coordinator will follow-up with individuals testing negative to educate and make available resources and referrals ranging from condom access to connections to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). AIDS Delaware also operates a 340B STI program through the State of Delaware which is designed to stretch the federal dollars helping fund our prevention of HIV contract. The job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct CTR HIV testing
  • Coordinate with the Prevention Team to identify and recruit from the population of focus to participate in HIV prevention programs and HIV testing
  • Educate interested individuals in condom-use, oral PrEP, and injectable PrEP options throughout New Castle County
  • Conduct non-medical health screenings and risk assessments of individuals who are interested in PrEP and/or have had a recent non-reactive HIV test
  • Facilitate linkage-to-PrEP care at the health center to recruit participants, high-risk persons and other individuals at increased vulnerability to HIV in and around Wilmington
  • Respond to phone calls, text messages, and emails related to the AIDs Delaware PrEP hotlines and email address
  • Collect data on monthly activities
  • Attend trainings and meetings as assigned
  • Additional client-centered duties as required
Education:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED. (some college or degree preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of populations of focus and sensitivity to the norms, values, and cultural beliefs of the populations
  • Group facilitation and presentation skills
  • Ability to self-manage
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, current trends, affected populations, epidemiology, etc.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Availability on evenings and weekends
  • Valid driver's license'
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
