The Position The TeensWork Alachua Summer Youth Employment (TWA) provides high school students work-related experiences that prepare them to succeed in employment. TWA aims to strengthen Alachua County's workforce and help young people gain the support, educational credentials, and skills needed in today's and in the future economy. Work sessions are held for 6 weeks in the summer. Objectives of the program are for students to gain employment, develop social skills, learn work norms and culture, understand career pathways, build professional networks and learn to manage money. The TWA Job Coach is responsible for the supervision of approximately 25-30 students.
Duties include:
recruiting students into the program, assisting the Program Manager to recruit employers to employ students, monthly reporting, completion of required trainings, weekly meetings with students, relationship building with students' employers, assist in student workshops, communication between student and employer, troubleshoot barriers to student's successful employment to ensure student success and employer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications :
Education Bachelors Degree required Experience Two years working with teens in an educational setting Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration Not Applicable Other Word, Excel Monday through Friday, Weekends as needed Job Duties General Work with TWA Program Manager to recruit and enroll students. Work with TWA Program Manager to identify and establish relationships with potential employers. Assist to develop, implement and attend workshops for students focused on work-readiness training. Implement and administer student assessment prior to employment Prepare and submit required reports. Essential Duties Managing Student Performance Assist with TWA student enrollment process. Schedule and attend employer orientation to make on-site visits and conduct a walk-through of worksite. Establish a chain of communication with employer and student and ensure all contact information is readily available. Coordinate external resources to support students (transportation, uniforms, required work attire). Oversee students' work attendance and performance. Identify potential problems and intervene as necessary to ensure student success. This may include leveraging the services of affiliated organizations. Complete required training to include TWA process and expectations, reporting requirements, and emergency management. Attend weekly meetings. 90% of Time Other duties as assigned: Occasional special events and trainings after hours or on weekends 10% of the time

Required Drive motor vehicle Maintain records Sensitivity to low-income population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics Preferred Personal Qualities and Skills Required People Development Ability to motivate students to strive for success. Knowledge Experience or educational background, post-secondary education, or social work (e.g., school counselors or college advisors). Demonstrated experience in working with youth. Strong understanding and sensitivity to the perspectives of low-income populations. Strong understanding of affiliate program offerings, including participation requirements and benefits Leadership Ability to instill a vision for student success and develop teamwork among all supporting parties. Ability to develop a mindset of continuous improvement for all students. Communications Ability to listen and observe in order to understand the needs of students and employers. Ability to use spoken communications to establish rapport with and influence all supporting parties. Ability to write effective performance appraisals and correspondence related to students.
