This role is ideal for someone who believes in second chances, thrives on making real connections, and is energized by helping individuals overcome barriers and build lasting careers. If guiding people from tough situations to real opportunity sounds like your calling, this role is for you.
Who We Are:
At OIC of South Florida, we're all about breaking barriers and building futures. We empower individuals coming out of tough situations, like justice involvement or unemployment, to find solid career paths and become thriving, self-sufficient members of their communities. OIC of South Florida is a workforce development and reentry leader with over 19 years of experience helping returning citizens successfully transition back into their communities and into meaningful careers. This position plays a key role in supporting the LEAP Program, Linking to Employment Activities Pre-Release, which provides FREE vocational training and job placement assistance to incarcerated individuals preparing for reentry into the workforce. Incarcerated individuals interested in participating in LEAP should submit an Inmate Request to their Classification Officer or Education Department for more details.
What You Would Do:
As a Workforce Navigator I, you will be the champion our clients need to help them navigate the twists and turns on their journey to success. You won't just be managing cases — you'll be crafting personalized career roadmaps, coaching participants through challenges, and celebrating every win along the way. From helping someone earn their first credential to landing their first job (or a better one!), you'll be the key to making it all happen.
Career Navigation & Case Management:
Partner oneonone with participants to create and navigate personalized career plans that fit their skills, goals, and aspirations. Travel into correctional facilities to work directly with inmates, providing guidance, support, and career navigation services as part of the LEAP Program. Help participants overcome obstacles by connecting them to supportive services — because sometimes success means more than just a job. Coach, encourage, and empower with positivity and purpose — your guidance will help clients stay on track and confident throughout their journey. Track progress with precision — documenting milestones, maintaining accurate data, and using insights to make each participant's experience smoother and more effective.
Employer & Community Engagement:
Collaborate with local employers and industry leaders to stay informed about job trends, indemand skills, and emerging opportunities in the labor market. Show up as a community connector — joining workforce boards, coalitions, and team meetings to strengthen the support network for participants. Refer participants to community resources when wraparound needs such as housing, transportation, or childcare fall outside the scope of direct services.
Administrative & Operational Support:
Maintain accurate and timely case documentation using case management systems and Microsoft Office tools. Participate in required training, team meetings, and professional development opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director or administration.
Who We're Looking For:
An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Workforce Development, Human Services, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. At least 4 years of experience in case management, career coaching, or workforce development with diverse, highneed populations. A knack for reading the labor market, spotting indemand skills, and helping people match with the right opportunities. Topnotch communication and coaching skills — you know how to motivate and inspire people to believe in themselves. Techsavvy with Microsoft Office and case management systems — keeping documentation accurate without missing a beat. Strong interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills with the ability to engage clients, employers, and community partners effectively. Ability to assess participant needs, develop individualized service plans, and monitor progress toward goals. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fastpaced, communitybased environment. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding professional standards at all times. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or Haitian Creole) are a strong plus for connecting with our diverse South Florida community.
Why Join Us:
Available medical, dental, and vision coverage. Employerpaid benefits include ShortTerm Disability (STD), LongTerm Disability (LTD), and AD&D/Life insurance. 403(b) retirement/investment savings plan with employer contribution. Opportunities for professional growth and career development. Flexible communitybased travel to meet clients where they are. A passionate, missiondriven team committed to uplifting communities with respect, energy, and purpose. Join us at OIC of South Florida, where your passion for people and purpose can help guide, inspire, and transform the lives of individuals working toward a second chance every day.
