Job Description
The New College of Florida career center offers internship positions through our Career Success Intern (CSI) program. CSIs will promote career readiness by assisting students who visit the career center in the pursuit of their career goals. CSIs will play a key role in increasing the career center's visibility and impact on campus by speaking to students, creating new initiatives, and completing projects with the support of career center staff members.
Internship Training & Supervision:
As a part of the internship program orientation, CSIs will be required to complete training on peer advising, career development topics, and basic employer relations skills. Interns will further develop their professionalism and understanding of career services. Additionally, each CSI will be assigned an internship supervisor within the career center to provide guidance and routine feedback. The CSI will work closely with their supervisor to complete internship projects related to their program focus, such as coordinating mentorship, internship programming, graduate school advising, fellowships and scholarships, marketing, pre-health advising, etc. As part of this position, you may be expected to arrive on campus before the start of the Fall semester (early August) to complete training and assist the Career Center team with orientation activities. You may also be expected to complete virtual prerequisite modules over the summer.Examples of Internship Projects:
Teach students resume and cover letter writing skills by conducting document reviews, search strategies, career exploration, Symplicity, and other career topics Facilitate and co-facilitate group advising career workshops Assist with special events, career fairs, and programming initiatives Present information about the career center, upon request, to student organizations, residence halls, classrooms, and other groups Participate in campus outreach efforts and promote career center services, programs, events, and recruiter activities, staff outreach tables at events, and educate the campus community about career center programs. Provide coverage at the front desk; assist with greeting visitors to the career center; answer and direct phone calls, and complete office administrative tasks as needed Ensure the career center's public space, storage areas, and desk spaces remain organized and clean and assist career center staff with special projects Coordinate and maintain efforts within our Career Closet to ensure students are utilizing the service and the items are appropriate- Must be available to work at least 8-10 hours per week
- Monday-Friday with some occasional evenings or weekends expected for large scale campus-wide events
- Employment during ISP term and breaks in which classes are not held are optional depending on office needs and your availability
- Other duties as assigned.
