Position Overview:
The Employment Specialist I delivers career planning, job readiness training, assessments, service coordination, and employment development for individuals with disabilities seeking community-based employment. This role empowers participants by developing technical and soft skills, connecting them with community resources, and supporting their employment goals. Required Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, human services, or human resources and 1 year of related experience; OR Bachelor's degree in another field and 2 years of related experience; OR Associate's degree and 3 years of progressively responsible related experience; OR High school diploma and 4 years of progressively responsible related experience. Required Clearances/Certifications TB clearance First Aid/CPR (may obtain on the job) Criminal background check Pre-employment drug test Child/Adult Protective Services checks LEIE check HireRight background check Valid driver's license, clean driving abstract, and insured vehicle Preferred Experience Supervisory or management experience Certifications in community rehabilitation, employment support, or work incentives/benefits counselingEssential Duties & Responsibilities:
Position-Specific Duties Develop individualized employment plans based on abilities, education, interests, and goals. Assist participants in securing and maintaining competitive community employment. Provide education and support in community resources, assistive technology, communication and social skills, mobility, financial management, wellness, home management, safety, and vocational adjustment. Lead group classes focused on career awareness and employability skills. Conduct telehealth classes using platforms such as MS Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, and WebEx. Provide ongoing support to participants and employers, identify issues, and recommend solutions. Participate in resolving workplace behavioral issues in collaboration with case managers, families, and supervisors. Manage program admissions and transitions, including communication with referral sources and coordination of services. Support participants enrolled in technical training programs and provide coaching. Perform job coaching duties as needed. Assist in interviewing, selecting, training, and developing job coaches; provide ongoing and new-hire training. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with clients, staff, and programs. Promote continuous learning and professional development related to disability services. Maintain accurate records, case files, eligibility documentation, service notes, and progress reports. Other Duties Demonstrate cultural competency and work effectively with diverse populations. Serve as a role model and contribute to a respectful, healthful work environment. Ensure adherence to safety procedures and use of protective equipment. Maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational policies. Develop thorough knowledge of Lanakila Pacific programs and participate in required training. Perform other related duties as assigned. Working Conditions /Hours:
Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (shift may vary). May require work outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays, based on operational needs. Work occurs in office, community, and outdoor settings, including travel to various sites.Equipment Use:
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and database systems. Use of standard office equipment (computer, copier, printer, fax, projector). Use of company vehicle.Mental Demands:
Ability to plan, organize, and adapt to changing situations. Strong judgment, initiative, and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups.Physical Demands:
