Position Summary:
CARE Hawaii is a behavioral health care organization seeking a compassionate and dependable Crisis Counselor for a 50-day contract. CARE will be providing Crisis Counseling and Assistance and Training Program to those affected by the Kona Low Storm in the communities of: North Shore (Wahiawa, Mililani, Schofield/Wheeler, Hale'iwa, and Waialua and on the island of Moloka'i (Kaunakakai, Ho'olehua, East End communities, and Maunaloa). Crisis Counselors will be providing face-to-face behavioral support.
Position Qualifications:
Short-term 50-day position only High School Diploma or equivalency with at least one year experience in counseling. Preferred Bachelor and/or Master's level degrees in the Human Service Field. Experience in counseling and/or therapy •Experience in Child counseling/therapy is a plus Essential Functions Individual Crisis Counseling Brief Educational or Supportive Contact Group Crisis Counseling Public Education Assessment, Referral, and Resource Linkage Community Networking and Support Development and Distribution of Educational Materials Duties and Responsibilities Provide individual and group crisis counseling services to individuals, families, and communities impacted by disaster events (e.g., Kona Low Storms, Maui Wildfires) Conduct brief supportive contacts and deliver psychoeducational interventions focused on coping skills, stress management, and disaster recovery Delivery of public education and community trainings on disaster reactions, resilience, and available resources Engage with community members through outreach activities and respond to requests for Crisis Counseling services Work in a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed manner to support diverse populations, including adults and children Assess individual and family needs and provide appropriate referrals to behavioral health, social services, and disaster-related resources Establish rapport, build trust, and utilize active listening and problem-solving techniques to support emotional stabilization Promote resilience and healthy coping strategies using skills obtained through Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)-approved CCP trainings Maintain knowledge of local and statewide resources available to support affected individuals and families Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners, agencies, and service providers Support recovery efforts through resource linkage, coordination of care, and follow-up as appropriate Participate in all required trainings, supervision, and team meetings (in-person and virtual) Utilize provider-designated digital systems to deliver services effectively Accurately collect, document, and enter CCP service data using State-designated systems in a timely manner Ensure compliance with all program, State, and federal documentation and reporting requirements
Pay:
$28.00 per hour
