Job Description

Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team at the Iowa WORKS office in Iowa City, Iowa . This is an excellent early-career opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others, building relationships, and supporting individuals as they work toward meaningful employment and independence. In this role, you will work alongside Rehabilitation Counselors and a collaborative service team to help individuals with disabilities prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment. PM Work Flexibility:
Hybrid telework and alternate schedules available after six months of employment

$17.96/hour | $1,436.80 bi-weekly | $37,356.80 annually What You'll Do As a Rehabilitation Assistant, you will play an important support role in helping job candidates successfully navigate their employment journey. Support Job Candidates Welcome and orient new applicants to IVRS services Assist individuals in completing applications and referral materials Schedule intake interviews and maintain ongoing communication Facilitate job readiness activities such as: Job Seeking Skills Training Job Club sessions Mock interviews and small-group workshops Help individuals build workplace readiness skills and confidence Partner with Counselors & Employers Maintain regular contact with job candidates pursuing employment Assist with job development and employer outreach activities Support job coaching and accompany candidates to interviews when needed Observe workplace progress and share updates with counselors Help identify solutions that support successful employment outcomes Provide Administrative & Office Support Maintain confidential case records and enter data into the case management system Process releases, correspondence, and service documentation Assist with scheduling, phones, reception coverage, and customer inquiries Ensure work is completed accurately, professionally, and on time Support team operations and special projects as needed What We're Looking For This position is ideal for candidates beginning a career in human services, workforce development, counseling support, or public service.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: Two years of full-time work experience in a human services field which involved: customer service, contact with the public to either compile or provide information regarding services, the organization/management of confidential information, or the scheduling of appointments. Two years of full-time work experience as a legal assistant/paralegal, medical office assistant, or job coach. A combination of a total of two years of education and full-time experience (as described in either number one or two), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work equals one year of full-time experience. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time work in direct client/customer service in a clerical or administrative support capacity.
