7 hours, School year positionJOB SUMMARY
A job coach develops effective coaching and employment plans, communicates with students to understand their goals, helps students overcome personal barriers and set goals, assesses individual strengths, teaches job tasks, and provides coaching in job search techniques. They also assist individuals in developing social and life skills and advice on workplace accommodations. Their role involves monitoring progress, maintaining records, and preparing reports. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Gather assessment data and assist students with disabilities to develop a list of interests and potential skills Communicate with clients to understand their goals and ambitions Develop effective job coaching and employment plans Gather employment information by doing job analyses at business sites in order to match a person with a position Guide students in learning to complete job tasks Help in the development of motivation and skills Provide coaching in effective job search techniques Provide one-to-one training on a job/volunteer site Ability to qualify for driving an activity bus Assist people with disabilities in developing social and life skills Advise on workplace accommodations for people with disabilities Conduct job readiness groups Maintain evaluation data for performance reporting Provide job retention services to the employer and person with disability Monitor and evaluate progress of students Maintain records, complete all reports and required paperwork in a timely manner Other duties as required bySpecial Education Director Qualifications & Requirements:
High School Diploma; or equivalent. A degree from an accredited college, preferred. 6 months or more of previous experience in providing vocational training, career development training, and/or job readiness training preferred. Ability to travel to different sitesSimilar jobs in Merrillville, IN
