This individual will provide support to local high school students with varying degrees of disabilities with the aim to help them with career development and vocational goals with supports needed to be successful.

The right candidate must:

1. Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. 2. Ability to meet with students to assist with various stages of the employment process (Discovery, resume writing, interview preparation and filling out job applications, etc.). 3. Assist students in discovering their individual vocational interests. 4. Develop relationships with local employers. 5. Search for internship opportunities for students. 6. Communicate with potential employers for students. 7. Assist employer and/or student with any necessary employment/training issues. 8. Complete daily case notes on each client and send to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors twice a month. 9. Complete and maintain all paperwork for each student, as required by Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VR) for the State of Indiana. 10.Provide job readiness training as required. 11.Attend case conferences, IEP and quarterly meetings to discuss goals and outcomes. 12.Advocate for students. 13.Maintain client billing for all students in the department and troubleshoot any issues that arise. 14.Organize and track authorizations for services and request new authorizations for services as needed. 15.Mentor students on any issues arises from ongoing training so that they have the understanding necessary to be successful. 16.Document all received training on appropriate form.

Education/experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one (1) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to two (1-2) years in an employment specialist/job coach role preferred. Proven ability to maintain complete confidentiality, student trust and excellent time management skills required. Skills in using good judgement, professional behavior/demeanor; organization and prioritization of work; and excellent written and oral communication skills required.
