West Lafayette Job Summary The College of Veterinary Medicine's VetUp! Outreach Coordinator will provide support, assistance, and guidance to the Vet Up! National Academy community to ensure participants have a successful experience. Report to Dr. Darryl Ragland and serve as the liaison for partnering institutions. Participate in recruiting students from partner institutions into Vet Up! programs to facilitate Vet Up!-related activities. Work closely with Vet Up! students and their career counselors/advisors to ensure students receive the support needed to attain the next educational level and graduate with a D.V.M. degree. Meet with participating students and their counselors/advisors at partner institutions to review each student's plan for achieving the next educational level, review student transcripts, discuss areas to strengthen competitiveness, assist students in applying for PVM summer educational program opportunities, and provide any updates to PVM admissions standards. Conduct regular "check-ins" with Vet Up! students to assess signs of challenges, connect students with professional resources, and provide structured advising, mentoring, and educational activities. Review each Vet Up! Champion's strategies for attaining career goals at program completion to promote ongoing success. •A cover letter describing experience and commitment to facilitating the educational success of disadvantaged students is required.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience Qualified candidates will need: Bachelor's degree related to student services, social services, social and behavioral science, community services/engagement, career counseling/advising, or related Three years of experience in counseling and mentoring strategies are needed to enable disadvantaged students to succeed
Skills Needed:
Critical thinking skills Sound judgment and decision-making Verbal and written communication skills with a variety of age groups Ability to communicate sensitive information Ability to engage and motivate individuals and teams Skills and understanding of the counseling and mentoring strategies needed to enable disadvantaged students to succeed Adept at functioning independently and working in teams Ability to develop mutually beneficial partnerships Ability to work under the pressure of travel and deadlines Competency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) What is helpful: Experience counseling high school and college students Experience working with veterinary medical professionals
