Contract Installation Manager (CIM)Job Summary:
The Transition Counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive support and services to transitioning Service Members and their Family Members at the TAP Center. The role involves individual counseling, career development assistance, and facilitating various workshops and briefings to ensure that Service Members are well-prepared for civilian life. The counselor will guide Service Members through the transition process, develop individualized Transition Plans (ITPs), and offer ongoing support to meet the unique needs of each client.Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual counseling to transitioning Service Members and their Family Members, helping them understand and navigate the transition process. Develop and implement an Individual Transition Plan (ITP) for each Service Member, outlining specific goals, resources, and actions required to achieve successful transition outcomes. Coordinate and schedule local briefings, workshops, and events, including Department of Labor (DOL) Employment Workshops and VA Benefits Briefings. Conduct Transition Briefings, providing essential information regarding available transition services, eligibility for benefits, and pre-separation counseling requirements. Facilitate the development of federal or private sector resumes for Service Members, assisting in the creation of a tailored resume based on individual needs and career goals. Provide guidance on identifying and achieving individual transition goals, including career, education, and personal development. Conduct gap analysis to identify the areas where additional assistance or support is needed, and follow-up with clients to ensure progress. Assist in regional outreach efforts to inform Service Members about available resources and transition services. Work closely with the CIM to ensure all tasks and responsibilities are executed according to the Program Work Statement (PWS) guidelines.Travel Requirements:
Travel may be required to meet mission goals, including evenings and weekends. Flexibility to work non-standard hours and utilize all modes of transportation to support client needs.Education and Experience Requirements:
Preferred:
Master's degree in Training and Development, HR Management, Counseling, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in career counseling, education, or a related field.Required:
Bachelor's degree with additional experience in counseling or related fields may be accepted.Military Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of experience working with or in the Military lifestyle (through personal and/or professional experience) is highly desired. An in-depth understanding of Military culture, command structure, and the challenges of transition is essential.Non-Military Experience:
If non-military, at least 4 years of experience in counseling or a related field.Skills and Competencies:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with a diverse population of Service Members and their families. Ability to develop individualized transition plans, resumes, and career strategies for Service Members. Knowledge of military benefits, employment resources, and transition services available to Service Members. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of organization. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of transitioning Service Members.
