Job Description

The Lead Support Specialist provides support and guidance to Support Specialists staff to meet key performance indicators for Goodwill Industry of Kentucky. The focus is to lead the Support Specialists in connecting participants with the resources and services needed to remove barriers, find housing, maintain long-term employment, and a career path.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
Directly supervise a staff of Support Specialists focused on supporting the functions of the Goodwill program and connecting individuals to resources. L eads the management of the specialists in the opportunity center ensuring that it is running efficiently, and effectively. Sets workload and ensures specialists work toward company goals and objectives. Maintains data reporting of participant information into provided data system, basic needs, and support as required by the opportunity center manager. Assists participants in locating resources needed to help overcome barriers and makes referrals to other agencies as needed on behalf of the participant. Assists support specialists' performance and provides feedback to opportunity center manager. Plays the lead role in planning, executing, monitoring the support specialist with the clients that are participating each day. : Extensive experience working with individuals experiencing mental health needs, physical health problems, substance use problems, poverty, and homelessness. Must be self-motivated with the capacity to consistently work with a high volume of individuals. Must have good skills and demonstrated abilities in communication
  • interpersonal relations, teaching/instructing, counseling, coaching, training, basic math and language, evaluating, organizing work
  • own and others, planning, decision making, problem solving, adapting to change, crisis intervention techniques
  • verbal/physical.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills; excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask and manage stress in a fast-paced environment. Must maintain participant confidentiality and follow the Certified Rehabilitation Counselors' Code of Ethics.
Education and Experience:
4-years of work experience in lieu of college degree in workforce development/social services environments, such as a workforce development program and/or community rehabilitation program, providing services to individuals with disabilities and/or other disadvantages preferred. Case management experience preferred. Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit or stand for an extended period of time.
