program provides direct, on-site support to students with cognitive and developmental disabilities in internship and employment settings. This position focuses on reinforcing job tasks, workplace behaviors, and skill development to promote student success. The Job Coach implements support strategies under the direction of the Transition Specialist and does not hold primary responsibility for coordination of placements or program planning. Key Responsibilities 40% Provide job coaching and on-site support to students during internships and employment experiences, including modeling workplace behaviors, reinforcing job expectations, and supporting skill development. 20% Assist students in maintaining appropriate workplace behaviors, communication, and professionalism 15% Support instructional activities and workforce training in classroom, campus, and community-based environments as directed. 10% Document student performance, progress, challenges and communicate updates to the Transition Specialist. 10% Assist with implementation of work-based learning activities and support student engagement in assigned job sites. 5% Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Workforce Development, Education, Communication Studies, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a closely related field focused on job coaching or transition services. Experience A minimum of two (1) years of experience providing job coaching, transition services, instructional support, or vocational training to individuals with cognitive or developmental disabilities. Experience supporting students or adults in workplace readiness, internships, or community-based employment settings. Experience providing direct instruction, coaching, or skills training in educational, workforce, or rehabilitation environments. Experience collaborating with employers, educators, families, or community agencies. Experience Substitution A combination of relevant education, professional training, and directly related experience may be substituted for the required education and experience, provided the applicant demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Proficient:
Ability to provide direct support and coaching in workplace environments Ability to model appropriate workplace behaviors and expectations Proficient Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff Proficient Ability to follow direction and implement support strategies consistently Proficient Ability to document student progress accurately Basic/Proficient Ability to demonstrate patience, reliability, and professionalism Proficient Ability to work as part of a team under supervision Preferred Education Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Educational Leadership or Higher Education Administration, Postsecondary Transition, Workforce Development, Communications, or Business Management, emphasizing community engagement, job placement, and transition planning for individuals with disabilities. Certifications/License Required (Any of the following): Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) Certification Work Incentives Practitioner (WIP) or benefits counseling training Special Education or Career/Technical Education (CTE) teaching certification Professional certification in Workforce Development or Adult Education Preferred Experience Three (2) or more years of experience in job coaching, transition services, or inclusive employment programs. Experience working in postsecondary education, community colleges, or workforce development programs. Experience supporting students in internships or competitive integrated employment. Preferred Experience Knowledge of assistive technology and workplace accommodations. Experience using student tracking or case management systems. Ability to assist with community outreach, employer engagement, and recruitment activities. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Basic understanding of workplace expectations and employability skills Ability to support student independence while providing appropriate guidance Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to follow structured routines and support plansBenefits:
