Beyond Graduation Career Coach (Part-Time)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls. Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds. Must be capable of sitting in stationary position for 50% or more of time. Beyond Graduation is a grant program provided by The Rapides Foundation and administered by Career Compass of Louisiana. Beyond Graduation will provide coaching services to support program participants at key benchmarks during their high school and college years. This position is a college-level coach and will provide early outreach and support, assistance with transitioning to college, conduct summer workshops/orientations before college starts, teach a required college success course in the first year of college, and provide individualized coaching and support throughout students' time in college. Participate in Beyond Graduation training, conducted by Career Compass. Provide coaching to identified student participants. Students will be identified and approved by the Career Compass Project Manager.

High School Senior Year:

Meet with each student a minimum of two times during the senior year. Arrange tour/orientation day for students.

Summer:

Lead summer workshops for all participants and track attendance.

Fall:

Obtain student waiver to release student information to Career Compass (if not previously signed). Monitor student progress monthly. Meet with each student a minimum of two times per semester. Proactively provide intervention as needed. Connect student with necessary resources. Complete a monthly progress check-in report due by the 20th of each month. Professors to submit monthly report on attendance and progress to the Beyond Graduation College Coach. Complete a monthly Report on how time was spent (contact hours, collection of progress reports). The Beyond Graduation Coach will agree to only use student information and contacts for the use of this project. Must complete a background check upon hire.
