Job Description

Phillips Academy seeks a full-time, continuing Associate Director of College Counseling to begin in August 2026. This is an unhoused 12-month, full-time administrative faculty position. Throughout the academic year, occasional evening and weekend work is required. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, dynamic, and thoughtful team player; have strong organizational, writing, and public speaking skills; and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include counseling and supporting students in the college selection and application process, working with students individually and in small groups, building relationships with families, writing recommendations, providing feedback on applicants' essays, advising students on course selection, taking part in professional development, and other projects and activities as assigned by the Director of College Counseling. We seek candidates who will be active participants in the community to join our experienced team of 13 counselors and four administrative support members. Collaboration and teamwork are cornerstones of the CCO team. Bachelor's degree is required. A minimum of 5-7 years of combined experience in college counseling and/or selective college admissions, with an emphasis on college counseling, is preferred. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Please submit a cover letter (addressed to Ben Temple, Dean of Faculty), résumé, college transcript(s), and a professional writing sample through Andover's application portal. We cannot accept other materials by email or anything by regular mail. The Phillips Academy community is defined by our motto, non sibi , which means "not for self." With this guiding principle, students engage in outstanding academic, student life and co-curricular programs. The Phillips Academy Constitution charges the faculty to teach "youth from every quarter" to aspire equally to knowledge and goodness. The ideal candidate supports this commitment. In your cover letter, please address directly your experience and interest in working in such a school community. Phillips Academy is committed to equal employment opportunity and solicits applications from all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, age, disability (with or without a reasonable accommodation), genetic information, veteran/military status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. Any offers of employment will be contingent upon successful CORI/SORI and fingerprinting background checks as well as unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Salary range for this role is 95,000-115,000 annually. Placement on the Phillips Academy salary scale is based on years of experience.
