Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority:
Building Principal Gateway Academy is seeking applicants who are passionate about helping high school age students enhance their employment skills to seek and attain gainful and satisfying employment experiences. The Job Coach will work with young people who require guidance and career development training to achieve success in the workplace. A job coach must be a mentor eager to provide instruction and support for all students to realize their employment potential. This person must have the mindset that all learners can grow and develop, regardless of circumstances or previous struggles in this area. They must have good communication and critical thinking skills
Statement of Duties:
Develop effective job coaching and employment plans Communicate with students to understand their goals and ambitions Assist students to discover and overcome their personal barriers and set goals Assess the strengths of individuals and teach them to use them effectively Guide students in learning to complete job tasks Help in the development of motivation Provide coaching in effective job search techniques Assist students in developing social and life skills Advise students on workplace accommodations for people with disabilities Monitor and evaluate progress of students once they are in the workplace Keep records and documentation and prepare appropriate reports Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the teacher, principal, supervisors/directors, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications:
Bilingual preferred (Spanish) Experience in working with students in nontraditional learners Ability to develop employment plans Ability to adhere to regulations and standards Computer skills Outstanding communication and computer skills Excellent organizational and problem-solving ability Respect and appreciate for diversity Ability to inspire and motivate High school diploma, Associate or Bachelor degree preferred Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
