Job Summary The Peer Counselor position works with peers to provide support through education, resources, and community integration, promoting the recovery process. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions- Works with multidisciplinary staff to assist individuals with vocational, social, and life skills on-site and in the community.
- Meets one-on-one with members to provide support around members' mental health recovery process while setting appropriate limits and professional boundaries.
- Receives one-on-one every week from program supervisory staff to provide guidance and support to the peer counselor as he/she interfaces with members.
- Participates in weekly team meetings to provide updates, set goals, and outline action plans for team members.
- Peer Counselor has access to members' personal history; therefore, CONFIDENTIALITY is a must.
- Individually leads/facilitates groups to provide support and guidance to members.
- Uses his/her own recovery experience as a framework to understand and support members in their own recovery journey and process his/her own recovery experience professionally, consistently observing appropriate limits/boundaries, including those supported by the Peer Specialist certification training.
- Complete required documentation in a timely fashion.
- Inspire hope by modeling personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and wellness. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Certified Peer and Family Specialist [CPFS]
