(1.0 FTE) Job Coach to support special education students in both work and education settings. Regular working hours are Monday-Friday 7:55-2:37 inclusive of an unpaid lunch period. Staff will attend and are compensated for Extended Day meetings on Tuesdays beginning 15 minutes after dismissal and lasting for 45 minutes. BORO Sugar Shack-hoursQUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate's degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field. Solid related experience my substitute for a degreeSpecialized Knowledge Preferred:
Child growth and development, disabilities, applied behavioral analysis (ABA), growth mind-set, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, social-emotional learning, assistive technology, and/or technology integration. Professional with a background in special education and supporting students between the ages of 18-22 with developing work skills. Successful candidate should be a flexible individual interested in working in an innovative, dynamic, and fast paced setting in collaboration with both the educational team and the BORO Sugar Shack store management.CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting:
All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00. Job Summary Position is accountable for providing direct instructional support and/or job coaching to the special education students during functional academic instruction, community-based instruction, activities of daily living instruction and vocational programming across all 3 phases of BORO vocational training program. Duties are guided by the direct lesson planning and/or employment training designed by the Special Education Teacher during school hours. Preferred Experience Demonstrates a passion for working with students with special abilities. ): Ability to apply professional standards of conduct and maintain professional boundaries with students and families/caregivers. This may include acting as representative of WPS when interfacing with community members/businesses, assisting in developing student access and independence in the community, and assisting in the promoting and maintaining of community, school and family relations. Maintain regular attendance, arrive and depart at specified contractual times, and follow appropriate protocols when absent or tardy Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to ensuring safety of staff, students, and the environment. Ensure confidentiality of records, performance, and personal information related to students and their families/caregivers Assist in the implementation of students' Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and/or Behavior Support Plan (BSP). This includes academi and/or functional academic instruction, communication, social skills, vocational, community-based instruction, and travel training. Direct supervision of students in community and employment training settings to ensure well-being and safety of the student at all times Assists with specific student support, either with an individual (1:1) or small group (1:2+) Support generalization of skills across settings Serve as an advocate for students' needs and skills in both the employment and community settings to promote engagement at their highest level of independence. Assists students with the preparation of all materials to engage in their daily schedule. Assists the teacher with the delivery of instruction including learning and using technology Provide direct supervision and monitoring of students to support maximum level of independence. Collecting data and implementing IEPs under the direction of a special education teacher Provides assistance for all necessary personal care needs of individual students (necessary training, policies, procedures will be provided). This includes teaching activities of daily living that may also include hygiene, toileting and/or clothing management instruction. Cover classroom in the teacher's absence, if requested, and serve as a chief source of information and assisting any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. Participates in professional development activities and attends meetings asdirected by the Director or Student Services Coordinator Willingness to drive the District provided vehicles to transport students to a variety of community sites. Ability to effectively respond to urgent or emergency situations. Essential Functions and Duties of the Position in the BORO Sugar Shack Setting (in addition to above): Assigned duties may be under the direction of the Special Education Teacher, Sugar Shack Store Manager and/or Program Director Assist in preparation and inventory of instructional and employment training materials utilized in community settings. Maintain understanding of and assist in daily store operations and support student engagement in these tasks and activities Promote and model student engagement and social skills with customers in a retail environment. Assist students and work collaboratively with the team in production of product Support student engagement in BORO Sugar Shack onsite and/or community-based sales and/or promotional activities Provide retail operational support notwithstanding students' attendance for scheduled shifts Any Other relative duties as assignedEvaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the WPS Paraeducator's Evaluation system.Salary and Benefits:
